The 2017-18 WOHAA Team Speedy Sloths (Winterbourne International Academy, Bristol) did something we've never seen before - a sponsored cycle ride around 6 libraries in the Bristol area, stopping at each one to read aloud a poem written by themselves to audiences of children, parents, and library lovers.

And here are those very poems for you to ready and enjoy!

Imagine...

Can you imagine your life
Without every going to school?

Can you imagine who you'd be
If you'd never met your favourite teacher?

Can you imagine yourself
Without what you learnt at school?

Would you be the same?
Who do you prefer to be?

(By Chloe, read at Emersons Green Library)

Literacy

A pen is your tool of choice,
A weapon you wield. Eloquence.
Subtle language moulding to your will.
Literacy. You have the power,
A power that multiplies when divided.
Share, spread, grow.

(By Lucy, read at Cadbury Heath library)

The Price of Education

Education is not just Maths, English, and Science.
It is the map to the rest of our lives,
It is the guide to who we are.
Education is not just a luxury, it is necessary.
Education is not free.
It does cost money to provide but,
It does pay off.
Education is worth the little to pay.
Education is worth more than it could ever cost.

(By Liz, read at Hanham Library)

Alliance

Education is an alliance,
A friendship between the knowledge and its teachers
And the teachers and their students,
Education is not just important, it's a necessity.
An essential to the lives of every living person
on our planet.
It is crucial, fundamental,
And for people to be deprived of an education,
It is a crime against us all.

(By Lucas, read at Kingswood Library)

Learning

A need to satisfy your curiosity
You delve into a book, new world.
Education brings knowledge
And knowledge brings understanding.
An understanding of who we are and where we
Reside. Universe. Great minds had already
Worked out your insides before you knew they were there.
Dazzle. A deep philosophy. Join them.

(By Miriam, read at Staple Hill Library)

Teachers

Paint their minds
and guide their thoughts
Share their achievement
and advise their faults.

Inspire a love
of knowledge and truth
As you light the path
Which leads our youth.

For our future brightens
with each lesson you teacher
Each smile you lengthen
Each goal you help reach.

For the dawn of each poet
Each philosopher, each king
Begins with a teacher
And the wisdom they bring.

(Written by Kevin William Huff, and read by Holly at Downend Library)
