While the school supported by Wings of Hope in Chennai has a holistic ethos incorporating many aspects of the arts, and performance, recently they have also been focusing on improving their facilities for students to have the best resources with which to continue their education.

A major part of this is a focus on Science -

  • they have built spacious laboratories for Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry and Biology with all the required equipment. These labs are used not only for training them in Practicals but it is also used as a Centre for Research works by the students where they can experiment the concepts learnt on their own
  • highly qualified science teachers have been recruited to teach Science and create interest for the students in the field of Science

  • these efforts have paid off, as their students have participated in the CBSE Regional level Science Exhibition and got selected for the National level Science Exhibition many times out of more than 300 CBSE schools participated

They are now hoping to expand and refurbish these facilities in line with changes to the national curriculum, as well as having equipment of a higher standard so students can learn and experiment with the best resources possible to inspire them.

They are looking to buy 100 new items of scientific equipment in the next year in order to continue their amazing work in inspiring education and they need your help! In total, these would cost around £10,000 (GBP).

We are all more and more conscious of the importance of good science and maths teaching, and allowing students to do their own practical experiments is the best way of putting what they are learning into practice. So far, this has paid off with pupils' results improving greatly, and we hope to see more improvement still with even better equipment.

All help is very much appreciated in this task to improve their students' education.

Thank you.
