Our Projects - India - The Schools

Around 360 underprivileged children attend the school funded by The Wings of Hope near Chennai (formerly known as Madras). The school, situated in Nemilicherry (Chromepet Township), offers 12 classes, from kindergarten to Class 10 and is affiliated to the Central Board of Secondary Education in New Delhi.

The school aims not just to educate, but also to build character. Its philosophy of value-based education offers a traditional curriculum that blends age-old wisdom with the latest advancements in scientific knowledge.

In order to achieve this symbiosis, the school emphasizes the day-to-day value of morality, spiritual values and historical examples of noble men and women. Because a sound mind can best flourish in an able body, the school provides facilities for all manner of sports, from western ones such as football and volleyball and olympic disciplines such as running, jumping and discus to indigenous pastimes such as kho-kho and kabadi.

The holistic approach to education is further underscored by classes in conversation, dramatics, public speaking, and vocational and art courses. Special events organised at the school and field trips to significant sites in the larger area complete the link between the school and the outside world. The ultimate aim: students who are physically fit, mentally well-balanced and academically excellent. In short, worthy citizens who will contribute to society.
