About Us

The Wings of Hope is an organisation that provides free education to poor and orphaned children in developing countries. The Wings of Hope is not affiliated with any political or religious association.

A solid education is the best way out of poverty. The education we provide will help these children break the cycle of dependency, and become providers for their communities.

As the saying goes: “Give a man a fish and you feed him for a day; teach a man to fish and you feed him for life.”

International organisations involved with education and development agree. UNICEF, UNESCO and other global institutions stress the crucial importance of education in the fight against poverty. Education – and especially primary education which we fund – can lift up entire communities out of the traps of poverty and debt that blight the lives of so many around the world. UNESCO succinctly defines the situation thus: “No country has succeeded if it has not educated its people. Not only is education important in reducing poverty, it is also a key to wealth creation.”

Wings of Hope currently funds and supports several educational projects across the developing world and in the UK: We support an existing school in India and we will soon be opening a second school, which will be entirely funded and run by the Wings of Hope.

In Malawi, we help fund an Orphan Support Centre, aimed at children whose parents have fallen victim to the HIV/AIDS pandemic. An educational programme is integrated into the Centre.

The Wings of Hope also provides opportunities for UK students through its Achievement Award: while raising funds for our projects in India and Malawi, UK students will enhance their entrepreneurial skills and learn about social responsibility – and will be eligible for rewards and recognition in the process.

Our commitment to the children in our care is long-lasting and comprehensive. We provide them with 7 to 10 years of free education and support, and aim not just to instill knowledge and teach skills, but also to build character and develop personalities. Our support makes a great difference to the lives of our students. Our care and education provides them with the tools for personal development and growth, and for economic and social progress.

Mahatma Gandhi once said: “BE the change you want to see in the world.” The Wings of Hope takes his words to heart. And so can you! Learn more about us via these pages, and get involved.
